AudioCodes: This Media Gateway donated by Nine-One-One, Inc. is currently in use testing a PSAP application

Avaya phones

Avaya phones

Avaya IP phones were donated by Phybridge during a test and demonstration of the Phybridge's Uniphyer product.

Avaya P2P phones

Avaya

Avaya representatives have donated three p2p phones to the VoIP Lab. The phones are part of the lab's ongoing study of P2P SIP implementations.

Avaya Switch/Router

Avaya

Avaya's donation of two routers to the VoIP Lab supports the lab's capability to be rapidly reconfigured and to support multiple projects at the same time. These switch/router combos are available for the use of all test and development projects.

CBeyond

Cbeyond

Cbeyond SIP Trunking services are now available for test and development projects throught a partnership agreement between Cbeyond and the VoIP Lab.

Cisco CMS and VoIP Phones

Cisco CMS

This early acquisition is used for lab exercises, demonstrations and comparative studies. It includes VIC cards that provide a connection to analog lines to the PSTN. SIP, MGCP and SCCP are among the signaling protocols available on this system.

Cisco 7960 IP Phone

Cisco IP phone

Cisco 7960 IP phones were donated by representatives of 911-Inc. during a development project conducted in the VoIP Lab by 911-Inc and an IIT student intern.

Cisco VPN Router

Gateway Router

This Cisco 2800 series router sits at the VoIP lab's gateway to the Rice Campus backbone network. This device allows us to provide VPN access to our Industry Lab Partners who can then upload code and other proprietary materials to the lab securely.

Dialogic

Dialogic

The Dialogic Media Gateway was donated by Paetec and Dialogic as part of ongoing interoperability testing related to the Paetec Dynamic IP SIP Trunking service.

Digium/Asterisk
Asterisk

Students build Asterisk servers as part of many different lab projects and the lab has purchased Digium cards to serve as PSTN gateways for these projects. Some of the small development projects that our industry lab partners request are easily implemented using this important hardware/software tool. Systems that require user authorization, and applications that require on-the-fly conference calls are among the recent projects that used Digium/Asterisk as their core.

DVQattest
DVQattest

Licenses for DVQattest, a distributed active test function that enables measurement of IP voice and video quality and performance metrics were donated to the lab by Telchemy, the application's developer.

ICS

ICS

InCharge Systems donated servers and software as part of their ongoing research and development projects in the lab.  ICS hires VoIP students as interns to forward the goals of the company and the university.

NextPoint
ReefPoint

NextPoint Networks contributed this IMS-enabled carrier grade router/ALG/SEG to support projects in the lab. IMS and SIP Performance benchmark development and specification are among the projects it supports.

Nokia SIP Phones

Nokia61i

The Nokia 61i was donated by Nokia representatives as part of an ongoing projects. This phone was integrated onto the VoIIT production system. Students are currently performing interoperability tests on the vaious IP phones, IP PBXes and Proxies in the lab in order to develop a set of recommendations for interoperability of SIP handsets and SIP Proxies and IP-PBXes.

Nortel
Nortel Routers

Nortel Networks provided 2 BSGX4e (Business Services Gateway Xpress) routers and 4 IP phones to the VoIP lab as part of a beta test. Students configured the system and are currently characterizing its behavior. The next phase of this testing includes testing the routers’ ability to withstand various VoIP security attacks.

Spirent SmartBits
SmartBits

Spirent SmartBits: Alcatel-Lucent donated this data load generator which can be used to create background loads for performance and torture testing. ALU also generously provided many of the equipment frames, jack panels and other pieces of infrastructure used in the lab.

SNOM Phones
SNOM

SNOM phones were donated by TelePrime, an early supporter of the lab. These are among a growing number of hardphones that are available for use in various architectures and test scenarios.

Spirent Abacus
Spirent

The Abacus5000 VoIP load generator is now on loan to the VoIP Lab through the generous support of the Spirent ATP program. The unit enables us to send high volume VoIP loads through various devices and networks and to collect performance statistics including voice quality metrics. It is in use on multiple projects that require bulk call generation and metric collection.

VoIIT

VoIIT

The VoIIT test bed is a replica of the VoIIT service, an Asterisk-based telephone service linking the Rice and Main Campuses with enhanced telephone services, features and functions.

Vonage Lines
Vonage

The lab includes Vonage hosted service lines that are used for lab exercises, demonstrations and comparative studies. These were an early acquisition of the lab and enabled students to study SIP-enabled services and features before many other resources were available.
